Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
The Village of Elburn, Illinois (population 6,094) is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. This position is a full-time staff level employee in the Public Works Department and reports directly to the Superintendent of Public Works. The position is responsible for performing difficult and complex operations and maintenance functions associated with the Village of Elburn’s 1.266 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant consisting of an automatic bar screen, influent pump station, oxidation ditch, secondary clarifiers, chlorine disinfection, aerobic digestion and sludge drying beds. The position is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of 5 sanitary lift stations located throughout the community.
Requirements for the position are a high school diploma, an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 1 Certification and a State of Illinois Commercial Driver’s License – Class A. The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate an ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment and possess a high degree of knowledge in wastewater treatment process control and preventive maintenance programs.
Knowledge and physical ability in the areas of electrical, plumbing, small engine maintenance and repair, and mechanical maintenance is strongly desired. Salary range is $61,880 to $70,200, depending on qualifications.
