The evidence technician is responsible for proper collection, packaging, and submission of evidence to the Illinois State Crime Lab for forensic analysis. Several officers are trained as field evidence technicians to collect evidence at crime scenes.
The Evidence Custodian is responsible for the documentation and storage of all property entered into evidence. He is also responsible for delivery of evidence to the Illinois State Crime Lab for forensic analysis and making sure all evidence is available for court purposes.
