Burning is weather-dependent.
PRESCRIBED BURN NOTICE FOR BLACKBERRY CREEK SUBDIVISION
The Village of Elburn has contracted with ENCAP, Inc. to perform a prescribed burn for naturalized areas around the storm water ponds within the Blackberry Creek Subdivision. The purpose of the burn is to control non-native vegetation and to promote the development of the native vegetation by mimicking pre-settlement fire regimes.
An Open Burn Permit has been obtained from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District. ENCAP, Inc. employees are trained in wildland fire fighting and prescribed burn tactics. ENCAP, Inc. is also fully equipped with fire-fighting tools and safety equipment.
The burn is scheduled to occur on/around April 1 or 2, 2021 depending on weather conditions. The burn will be completed in approximately 8 hour periods potentially over multiple days. A 24-hour advance notice will be given to the local Police and Fire Departments prior to the burn.
If you have any health related problems that may be effected by smoke, know of a neighbor who may have a health concern, or have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to call Samantha DeDina, ENCAP Inc.’s Natural Areas Maintenance Superintendent/Ecologist, at 815-748-4500.
