PRESCRIBED BURN NOTICE FOR BLACKBERRY CREEK SUBDIVISION
The Village of Elburn has contracted with Baxter & Woodman (B&W) Natural Resources to perform a prescribed burn for naturalized areas around the stormwater ponds within the Blackberry Creek Subdivision (see map below). The purpose of the burn is to control non-native vegetation and to promote the development of the native vegetation by mimicking pre-settlement fire regimes.
An Open Burn Permit has been obtained from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District. B&W employees are trained in wildland fire fighting and prescribed burn tactics. B&W is also fully equipped with fire-fighting tools and safety equipment.
B&W will be on site soon creating burn breaks in advance of the prescribed burn. The burn is scheduled to occur in the next few weeks depending on weather conditions. The burn could potentially take multiple days to complete. Advance notice will be given to the local Police and Fire Departments.
Any questions, comments or concerns should be directed to the Public Works Department at 630-365-5064.
