Village of Elburn | (630) 365-5060 | M-F 7:00AM - 3:30PM

MARCH 6, 2024

Over the next few weeks, prescribed burning of the open space areas in Blackberry Creek Subdivision will occur when favorable weather conditions allow.  Because weather conditions are an important factor, it is impossible to predict exactly when the burns will occur.

The Village of Elburn has contracted with Baxter & Woodman (B&W) Natural Resources to perform a prescribed burn for naturalized areas and around the stormwater ponds within the Blackberry Creek Subdivision.  The purpose of the burn is to control non-native vegetation and to promote the development of the native vegetation by mimicking pre-settlement fire regimes.

An Open Burn Permit has been obtained from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District.  B&W employees are trained in wildland fire fighting and prescribed burn tactics.  B&W is also fully equipped with fire-fighting tools and safety equipment.

Prescribed burning is weather-dependent.

Any questions, comments or concerns should be directed to the Public Works Department at 630-365-5064.
