Festivals and Parades in Elburn, IL
Arbor Day Celebration
The Village Community Arbor Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The event will be held next to the Village Hall near the Veterans Memorial tank. It will begin at 10:00 a.m. There is a short ceremony to commemorate the day. The Village is a Tree City USA member 9 years standing! Come out and celebrate Arbor Day!
Memorial Day Parade
The annual Memorial Day Parade is hosted by American Legion Post 630 and starts at 9:00 a.m. at Lions Park and ends at Blackberry Township Cemetery. There is a brief service at the cemetery and then folks return to Lions Park for food and social events.
Elburn Days
Elburn Days is our community's largest event, held annually the third full weekend of August. The Elburn Days Parade steps off at 6:00 p.m. from the intersection of Gates and Shannon Streets and proceeds east to Main Street (Route 47), then south along Main Street to South Street, and then turns west to end at Lions Park.
Lions Park will have live music, carnival games, rides and more food than one can sample over the weekend. See the Elburn Lions Elburn Days web page for more information about the Lions Park activities. See the Elburn Days Parade Web Site for information about being in the parade.
There are also sidewalk sales, commercial expositions and many other activities hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. See their web site for additional information.
Veterans Day Parade
On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, the Elburn Community pauses to remember our veterans. The annual parade begins at the American Legion building at 112 N. Main Street after a moment of silence, then proceeds south on Main Street (Route 47), turning east on North Street to end at the Veterans Memorial next ot the Village Hall. After the parade a brief and informative ceremony is held at the new Memorial. On display at the Veterans Memorial is an M60A3 battle tank, on loan from the US Army.
Christmas Stroll
The annual Christmas Stroll is held the first Friday in December. Many businesses remain open for the event that starts at 6:00 p.m. and lasts until about 8:30 p.m. In addition to the goodies available at the merchants, there is either a hay ride or trolley to tour the area and stops by to see some guy in a red suit at the Library.The Village Hall is open that evening to meet your local officials and provide an extra opportunity to check out some of the exciting projects Elburn is considering. This event is also sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
