Growth In the Village of Elburn
The Village of Elburn is a charming rural community of approximately 5,600 residents, located 10 miles west of the Fox River in central Kane County. It is the overall goal of the Village of Elburn to preserve its character as a charming place to live and a prosperous area for business. The village seeks to encourage moderate and well-balanced growth. Growth that contains a balance of commercial and residential land uses will ensure that a stable tax base is maintained, as well as the character of the community.

In October, 2015 the Economic Development Committee in conjunction with NIU's Center for Governmental Studies completed the Business Survey Results and Inventory that assists the Village in understanding the area economy, the current and expected status of existing businesses, and tools available to help expand and encourage new businesses.  Over 70 businesses completed the survey.  The respondents were upbeat and the future of Elburn and favor retaining the rural flavor of the community.  View the Survey Results and Inventory HERE.

In April, 2013 the Village Board approved a new Comprehensive Plan.  This plan won the prestigious 2015 Kane County Plan of the Year Award!  View the Village's future HERE.
